Dear Bethel Church Family,
These are exciting days at our church! And yet, I’m often reminded of these words from 1 Corinthians 2:9, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love him.”
Easter Sunday morning is right around the corner, and with it the hope of a new season. Of course, Easter is more than just a signal that spring is finally here, it’s an opportunity to celebrate and commemorate the greatest comeback in the history of the universe! The Resurrection is more than just a day to remember, though. The Resurrection is a person to experience! Jesus says in John 11:25, “I Am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in me, though he were dead, he shall live again.”
The word “resurrection” literally means to “stand up”. Jesus stood up from death. The tomb is empty. Hope is alive. Jesus has returned. Death did not have the last word. Jesus stood up for you that day. He’s still standing. And that, my friend, is good news!
Maybe you find yourself feeling lonely, abandoned, forgotten, or heavy-hearted. Remember that the grave Jesus was laid to rest in was merely borrowed. Jesus only needed it for the weekend! That means even the worst of circumstances are temporary because God isn’t finished with your story yet. Whatever you’re facing today—the defeat of a habitual habit, the death of a loved one, or a despondent feeling of hopelessness, always remember, Sunday is coming! There is victory on the other side of the pain, grace on the other side of the defeat, and a promise on the other side of the grave.
Like those who arose early that first day of the week and ran to the tomb to find Jesus, I encourage you to arise, come and seek Him. When you do, you’ll find that He’s no longer among the dead. He is risen indeed. He’s ALIVE! And now He invites you to experience His life—to come ALIVE and awaken to the reality that the God of all hope has overcome everything that’s ever threatened to overwhelm you!
I want to invite you to ALIVE, an Easter Worship Experience. To prepare you for this momentous day, we’ve links to a few items below. You’ll find a description of those items and information about our special Easter offering.
Full of anticipation,
Pastor Keith Robinson
• A Devotional to help you connect with God during our corporate 21-Day Daniel Fast. Last year, hundreds of people at Bethel went on a journey together to fast and to pray, collectively and intentionally. We believe that God showed up in huge ways in our lives and in our church as we gathered on Easter Sunday and witnessed 130 people experience life-change as they were baptized!
This year, you’re invited once again to this “Courageous Crossing”. What if you restricted your diet (fast) according to the enclosed plan and more passionately directed your heart, soul, mind, and body toward Christ for 3 weeks? The cost is comparatively little compared to the reward, which is eternal! God will use this discipline to grow, strengthen, and prepare us for what He wants to do in our lives and in our church. The fast begins Sunday, March 30 after lunch.
• The “Imagine A Place” brochure. “Imagine A Place” is an initiative that will enable us to revitalize, renovate, and update our church campus, ensuring that future generations will have a space to facilitate worship, spiritual growth, and community with others. Please take a moment to review the content of this piece to see Bethel’s leaders feel that God is leading them as we take steps of faith to continue building upon the great legacy handed to all of us.
Our special Easter offering will be used to help fund Step 1 of the “Imagine A Place” campaign. Additionally, 10% of the overall offering will be used to fund a missions’ initiative “across the street” to rehab several homes in our community through a local non-profit and ministry partner, Community One. Will you commit to praying about what God would have you to give and come prepared to bring it as an offering to Him?
• Invitations to our Easter Worship Experiences. (PDF printable, E-vite). Easter Sunday morning provides a great opportunity for those who don’t have a church home to experience Bethel with you! Who is around you at home, work, school, your neighborhood, or in the community that you could invite to attend Bethel with you on Sunday, April 20th? If everyone brings one, what would happen? Don’t miss the great opportunity to see God change the lives of those around you who need His hope!
Please note the schedule change to Easter Sunday morning. 9:00 and 11:00 A.M. worship experiences will allow for more seating and parking spaces for everyone.
Also, we’re excited to announce that beginning Easter Sunday we will return to two worship experiences each week thereafter at 9:00 and 11:00 A.M.
If you’re interested in being baptized in water on Easter Sunday morning, please email bethyoung1bethelcom or register here to receive information.
